There are several ways to lift the eyebrows. The best method for most patients is an endoscopic-guided brow lift, also called an endobrow. In this technique, the patient is asleep and the surgeon makes several small incisions just inside the hairline above the forehead. The surgery is performed through a small endoscope (microscopic camera) placed through the incisions.
The tissues of the eyebrow are treated from underneath the skin guided by the endoscope. The forehead skin is then lifted and suspended. Once healed, no scars are visible and the lift usually lasts many, many years. The endobrow procedure is not covered by medical insurance.
Another technique is the direct or supraciliary brow lift. In this case, the anesethized skin is incised directly above the eyebrow. Although this gives a nice lift to the eyebrows and may be covered by insurance, it also leaves a noticeable scar for most patients.
Many patients needing a brow lift also have drooping upper eyelid skin or baggy lower eyelids. Often upper or lower eyelid blepharoplasty is performed at the time of the brow lift.
