A pioneer in the development of eye surgery, Dr. Dennis Shepard has taught eye surgery to thousands of doctors in 28 countries, and is recognized as a leading surgeon, author and inventor of medical devices for eye microsurgery. He is internationally renowned as a lecturer for cataract removal, lens implant and myopia surgery.
Dr. Shepard received his Medical Doctor degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. His extensive eye surgery training was conducted at UCLA, Los Angeles County Harbor General Hospital, the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and the University of Vienna. In addition, Dr. Shepard pursued post-graduate training at many of the nation’s most prestigious eye care and medical facilities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Shepard has demonstrated the highest degree of commitment to his profession. He currently serves as president of the Society for Geriatric Ophthalmology, treasurer of the Keratorefractive Society and Professor of Ophthalmology at Autonomous University. As consultative editor, board member and advisor to national and international ophthalmology-related organizations, Dr. Shepard has long been a leading innovator in eye care.
Long-time residents of California’s Central Coast, Dr. Shepard and his wife raised their son and daughter in the Santa Maria area.
