Jason Chang, MD

With an interest in comprehensive optometry, ocular disease, and contact lenses, Dr. Jason Chang has served the central coast since 2007.  He is an active partner in the community and has participated in School Vision Screenings in both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.  Dr. Chang has a special interest in serving underserved populations; he has participated in vision screenings for the homeless and during a volunteer optometric expedition abroad, provided eye care to over 800 Mexican residents near Guadalajara.
 
Dr. Jason Chang received his doctorate in Optometry from the University of California at Berkeley, School of Optometry in 2006 where he received the Cal leadership award, clinical honors, and the Eschenbach Excellence in Low Vision Award. He completed his professional externships at the University of California at San Francisco, the Fresno Veterans Affairs Hospital, and the Vandernberg Air Force Base. Dr. Chang pursued his interest in Low Vision Rehabilitation completing a residency at the Center for the Partially Sighted in Los Angeles, where he evaluated patients with vision impairment arising from conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.
 
Dr. Chang is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Tri-county Optometric Association. 
 
Dr. Chang enjoys spending time with his wife and son.  His other interests include surfing and surfboard repair, do it yourself home projects, and cycling.
