I had LASIK surgery at Shepard Eye Center with Dr. Goodman. LASIK surgery is the way to go! I wore glasses for more than 32 years. Just imagine the changes I've experienced! Swimming, sleeping, non-prescription sunglasses and the list goes on. I don't have to constantly clean, adjust, tighten screws, get new prescriptions, pick out new frames and change glasses when I'm outdoors. There is not a day that I look back and regret having LASIK surgery! Definitely the best investment that continues to pay back every second of the day.

I’m Elsie, and I first heard about Shepard Eye Center while I was a volunteer for Gen Span. By that time, I had been wearing bifocals for over 40 years. I was having a difficult time doing what I enjoy—sewing, knitting, reading, and driving. I went to Dr. Goodman at Shepard Eye Center to learn more about my options, and he recommended Cataract Surgery with Restore Lens Implants. After my surgery I don’t need my glasses for anything, even driving at night. I passed the vision test for my drivers license WITHOUT my glasses for the first time in 30 years. I can even thread a needle without my glasses. I’ve spoken to friends who have had cataract surgery with other centers, without the type of results I’ve had with dr. Goodman at Shepard Eye Center. At 86 years old, it is a real blessing to know I don’t have to worry about glasses, and if one surgery means I don’t have to worry about them for the rest of my life, I think that’s worth it.

As an optometrist, vision and eye health has been my business. But when work is through, my love for bicycling really gets me going. For the past 30 years, my eyesight has been slowing me down. I was legally blind without glasses, and contacts made my eyes so irritated I could hardly ever wear them. So, I was stuck with my glasses for my daily bike rides. Traveling is my passion, and I have been exploring new locations for years. But, these new adventures have been blurry because of my poor eyesight.
